Option to set a Fixed/Max Lot Size for Algo Trading

Dear Stratzy Team,

I would like to suggest a new configuration feature for the trading algorithms: the ability for users to define a fixed or maximum lot size per algo next to capital allocation.

The Problem: Currently, lot sizes fluctuate based on algorithm confidence or adjustments to my allocated capital. For example, if I experience a drawdown and reduce my capital from ₹1.5L to ₹1.2L, the algo changes its lot sizing (e.g., switching between 2 and 3 lots).

Unfortunately, this dynamic sizing often works against me due to probability. Coincidentally, in my case, the algo tends to take higher lot sizes on trades that result in a loss, and smaller lot sizes on trades that result in a profit, which heavily skews the overall performance.

The Proposed Solution: Please introduce a user toggle or configuration that allows us to set a hard cap or fixed lot size for all trades.

The Benefit: This would ensure that irrespective of the capital allotted or the algorithm’s internal confidence score, every trade is taken consistently with the exact same lot size. This consistency (e.g., sticking strictly to 2 lots for an entire month) would give users much more predictable risk management and smoother equity curves.
High level ask:

  1. The Core Ask: A configuration to set a fixed/max lot size.
  2. The Trigger: Capital adjustments (e.g., ₹1.5L to ₹1.2L) and algo confidence causing varying trade sizes.
  3. The Pain Point: The math working against the user (higher lots = losses, lower lots = profits).
  4. The Solution: An override setting that ignores capital/algo confidence to maintain 100% consistent position sizing.

Thank you for considering this enhancement!

Hi @Vishal_M

Thank you for taking the time to explain your suggestion in such detail.

I understand the use case you’re referring to and the rationale behind having a fixed or maximum lot size, irrespective of capital allocation or the Algo’s position sizing logic.

With respect to your observation, I’d like to clarify that the quantity for each trade is determined solely by the Algo’s predefined strategy logic and position sizing framework. It is independent of the eventual outcome of the trade. While there may be periods where larger positions coincide with losing trades (or vice versa), this should not be interpreted as an intentional characteristic of the Algo.

That said, we’ve noted your feature request for allowing users to define a fixed or maximum lot size as an optional configuration. We’ll discuss this internally while evaluating future platform enhancements. However, I wouldn’t be able to comment on its feasibility or implementation timeline at this stage.

Thank you once again for sharing your feedback. We truly appreciate users like you who take the time to provide detailed suggestions for improving the platform.
