Okay so Modi just landed in Rome and gifted Meloni a packet of Melody toffees and Meloni posted a video saying “a very very good toffee — Melody”
#Melodi is all over twitter right now and this (obviously) had to affect the stock market (don’t worry, in a good way)
Retail investors and traders on Dalal Street reacted to the resulting “social media frenzy” and nostalgic discussions surrounding the brand “Parle” “Melody” and shares of Parle Industries rose 5% right after this.
BUT here’s the catch ![]()
Parle Industries is a real estate company and has literally nothing to do with Melody. THAT’S Parle Products, which isn’t even listed on the stock market ![]()
Someone saw “Parle” Melody in the headline, didn’t read past that, and bought shares of “Parle industries”. then a few more people jumped in without checking why. that’s literally what happened.
We love us some irrational market, don’t we?
Also thinking about that one quant with a full short thesis on Parle Industries who woke up to a 5% spike and is just staring at the screen as we speak. Feel you man.
